LFNM receives donations for a contingency fund. We call it Two Denarii. In Jesus’s time, two denarii mean two days’ wage for an ordinary worker. Why not one denarius, but two denarii? The two-denarii story comes from the parable of the good Samaritan in Luke 10. To cope with possible extra expenses, the good Samaritan offers a contingency fund for the innkeeper to continue to look after the wounded man. Lytton is the hottest and driest place in Canada. Since the Lytton fire on June 30, 2021, God has sent many good Samaritans with two Denarii to minister to the First Nations peoples in and around Lytton who have been impacted by a series of wildfires, floods, and mudslides.
